The announcement was made during the chamber's Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday at Cocoa House, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye of the Ogun Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) emerged as the new President.
Other key members of the new executive include Alhaji Olufemi Hassan of the Ekiti Chamber of Commerce as the 1st Deputy President and Hon. Olumide Arabioyinbo as the 2nd Deputy President. Elder Bisi Makanjuola was elected as Treasurer, while the immediate past President, Chief Wole Akinwande, will serve as an ex-officio member.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye expressed deep appreciation to the members of the chamber for entrusting him with the leadership role."I am honored by the confidence you have placed in me. Together, we will build on the achievements of past administrations and chart a new course for sustainable development in the South West business community," he stated.
Olaleye paid tribute to the late Iyalode Lawson and other past presidents, acknowledging their pivotal roles in shaping the chamber's legacy.He called for collective support from past officers, council members, and stakeholders to elevate ODUACCIMA to international recognition.
"This administration is committed to engaging all hands on deck to create a more vibrant and globally recognized chamber," he added.
The new president unveiled plans to organize a stakeholder forum aimed at developing a five-year roadmap to propel the chamber’s growth.He also emphasized the need for youth and women’s active participation in chamber activities, noting, "My two-year tenure will focus on inclusivity and empowerment, driving the chamber movement to greater heights at the regional level."
Outgoing President, Chief Wole Akinwande, thanked the chamber’s past leaders, his team, and members for their unwavering support during his tenure.
"We have laid a strong foundation, and I am confident the new leadership will continue to build on this progress. I pledge my full support to help them achieve their goals," he remarked.
In his address, the National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Otunba Dele Oye, lauded Chief Akinwande for his dedication and urged Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye to foster unity and collaboration within the chamber.
"The success of ODUACCIMA lies in teamwork. I assure you of NACCIMA's unwavering support to help achieve your vision for the South West business community," Oye stated.
The well-attended event featured several captains of industry and dignitaries from the organized private sector, marking the beginning of a new chapter for ODUACCIMA.
