Family Conflict Over Breakfast Rice Claims Life of Teen Mom in Oyo

A 17-year-old mother of one has died after allegedly consuming a toxic substance following a disagreement with her husband over two cups of rice in Labi community, Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The incident, which has plunged the community into mourning, reportedly began with a heated argument between the woman, identified as Deola, and her husband over the appropriate quantity of rice to cook for breakfast. 

The husband, believing two cups were excessive for Deola and their child, advised against it, but his wife disagreed.

According to a family source, "The disagreement was minor, but it escalated quickly. The husband, in an attempt to avoid further conflict, left the house. After preparing the food and dropping her child off at school, she returned home and allegedly drank a poisonous substance."

Another source revealed that Deola began vomiting and showing signs of weakness before she was rushed to a hospital in the Orogun community. Despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead.

"The husband was called back home after her condition worsened," the source added. "We buried her yesterday (Tuesday)."
