The future of Africa as a global economic and cultural superpower will take center stage on Sunday, January 12, 2025, during the 27th edition of the Boiling Point Arena, a widely acclaimed monthly interview and discourse platform.
The guest speaker for this edition is none other than Prof. Toyin Falola, an eminent historian and one of the most celebrated African scholars globally. Prof. Falola will lead the conversation on the theme, "The Socio-Economic and Political Survival of Mother Africa—The Dilemma and Viable Options."
The programme, hosted via Zoom and broadcast live on WASH 94.9FM, Lagos, and Sweet 107.1FM, Abeokuta, promises to offer profound insights into Africa’s potential, particularly in leveraging its demographic dividends and abundant natural resources to emerge as a global power.
Building on the success of the December 2024 edition, which featured a one-on-one live interview with Former President Olusegun Obasanjo discussing his governance legacy and Nigeria’s current state, this upcoming session promises an equally engaging and thought-provoking dialogue.
Prof. Toyin Falola, widely regarded as Africa’s most distinguished historian, is a recipient of 25 honorary doctorates from prestigious institutions, including the University of Ibadan, University of Calgary (Canada), and Monmouth University (USA).
His prolific contributions include over 100 books and lectures delivered in more than 65 countries. Recently appointed as an Extraordinary Professor of the Humanities at Free State University, South Africa, Prof. Falola’s expertise is globally acknowledged.
Adding to the discourse, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, will deliver the keynote address. As Chairman of the Boiling Point Council of Royals and Elders, his insights will set the tone for the session.
The programme is convened by Dr. Ayo Arowojolu, a seasoned media professional with over 34 years of experience across media, banking, and education sectors. The event is organized by a team led by Dr. Eddy Ademosu, a prominent public relations expert.
Dr. Ademosu, in a statement, emphasized the significance of the session:
"This edition will chart pathways for reinventing Africa into a global superpower, addressing its socio-economic and political challenges with actionable solutions."
He also lauded Senator Olugbenga Obadara, promoter of Sweet FM, and the management of WASH FM for their continued support in amplifying the reach of the Boiling Point platform through terrestrial and online broadcasting.
The Boiling Point Arena is renowned for its intellectual depth, drawing participation from a diverse audience of over 300 professors, industry leaders, technocrats, High Court justices, traditional rulers, media professionals, and security experts.
With such an esteemed panel and robust agenda, the January 12 discourse is poised to be an impactful conversation shaping Africa’s trajectory in the 21st century.
