The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a significant reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to N899.50 per litre. The new price, which took effect on Thursday, comes as part of the company’s effort to ease the financial burden on Nigerians during the festive season.
In a statement signed by the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the refinery emphasized its commitment to providing affordable fuel to Nigerians. “The decision to reduce the fuel price is aimed at providing much-needed relief for Nigerians ahead of the holiday season,” Chiejina noted.
He highlighted that this latest price cut follows an earlier reduction on November 24, which brought the price to N970 per litre. “This further reduction is designed to ease transportation costs during the festive period, ensuring Nigerians can travel and celebrate with less financial strain,” he added.
In addition to the price slash, the refinery introduced a unique offer aimed at further benefiting consumers. According to Chiejina, “For every litre purchased on a cash basis, consumers will have the opportunity to buy another litre on credit. This credit offer is backed by bank guarantees from Access Bank, First Bank, or Zenith Bank.”
The statement clarified that the discounted price is available at the refinery’s truck loading gantry and Single Point Mooring (SPM) facilities.
Chiejina expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their unwavering support, reiterating the refinery’s mission to deliver premium-quality petroleum products at competitive prices. He stated: “Our operations ensure that Nigerians have access to environmentally friendly and engine-efficient fuel, while also putting an end to Nigeria being a dumping ground for substandard and blended imported products.”
The refinery's initiative has been widely praised for its dual impact of reducing financial stress on Nigerians and addressing health and environmental concerns associated with inferior fuel products.
As the festive season approaches, the Dangote Refinery’s measures are expected to bring significant relief to Nigerians, further solidifying its position as a leader in the energy sector.
