Excerpt...

What inspired you to contest for the position of ACHSOSAN Global President?

Thank you for the opportunity. My journey started with a deep passion for community building and a firm belief in the transformative power of education. As a proud alumnus of Area Community High School, Owode-Yewa, I am motivated to give back to the institution that shaped me and many others.

Our school has the potential to not only be a beacon of excellence but also a hub of empowerment and innovation. This vision, coupled with the need to unify and inspire our alumni, is what led me to throw my hat into the ring for this leadership position.

Empowerment and mentorship are central to your agenda. How do you plan to implement these initiatives?

Empowerment begins with building strong support systems. If elected, I will establish a structured mentorship program connecting alumni from diverse fields with current students and young graduates. This platform will provide guidance on career paths, business strategies, and life skills.

In addition, I plan to organize annual skill-building workshops focusing on leadership, entrepreneurship, and digital literacy to prepare participants for the challenges of the modern workforce. These programs will not only inspire dreams but equip our students and alumni with the tools to achieve them.

Security and infrastructure upgrades are also highlighted in your manifesto. Can you share your plans?

Security is paramount in ensuring a conducive learning and working environment. I intend to spearhead efforts to install perimeter fencing, CCTV cameras, and streetlights across the school premises. Collaborating with local security agencies, we will establish a rapid-response mechanism to tackle any security concerns promptly.

On infrastructure, we will renovate and expand existing facilities, build additional classrooms, and equip laboratories and libraries with modern tools. These efforts will address overcrowding, improve safety, and create an environment where learning thrives.

Scholarships and welfare support form another pillar of your agenda. How will this be executed?

Comrade Yusuf: Education should not be a privilege; it’s a right. Under my leadership, ACHSOSAN will launch a comprehensive scholarship scheme targeting underprivileged but talented students. We will also support alumni who wish to pursue further education or who face financial challenges.

To fund these initiatives, we will partner with NGOs, corporate bodies, and philanthropic individuals within and outside the alumni network. Our goal is to leave no student or alumnus behind due to financial constraints.

Alumni engagement is critical for associations. How do you intend to strengthen connections among members?

Comrade Yusuf: Strong alumni connections translate into collective strength. I plan to organize annual reunions, professional networking events, and regional gatherings. These events will create opportunities for collaboration and strengthen bonds.

Additionally, we will launch a user-friendly digital platform where alumni can stay informed, connect with one another, and actively participate in ACHSOSAN activities. The platform will include a directory of members, event updates, and a mentorship portal.

Community impact projects and security awareness feature prominently in your vision. Why is this important?

A thriving school cannot exist in isolation from its community. I will champion projects like health campaigns, environmental cleanups, and capacity-building initiatives for youths in the area. These efforts will not only uplift the community but also reflect positively on our school.

Furthermore, we will organize security workshops in partnership with experts to educate students and staff on personal safety, cyber security, and emergency response strategies. This will foster a culture of awareness and preparedness.

Introducing Diaspora executives is one of your proposals. How will this benefit the association?

Including Diaspora executives is essential for ensuring inclusivity and global representation. Alumni living abroad have immense resources, ideas, and networks that can benefit ACHSOSAN. By appointing dedicated representatives, we will ensure their voices are heard and their contributions are valued.

Through regular virtual meetings and seamless communication channels, Diaspora members can actively participate in decision-making and provide valuable support to our programs.

If elected, how will you ensure the sustainability of your programs and projects?

Sustainability is about planning with the future in mind. First, we will institutionalize all our initiatives by documenting processes and creating committees to oversee them. Second, I will focus on building a strong financial foundation through fundraising, partnerships, and proper financial management. Lastly, fostering a sense of ownership among members will ensure that our projects remain active long after my tenure.

Finally, what is your message to ACHSOSAN members?

My dear ACHSOSAN family, this is a call to action. Together, we have the power to transform our association into a global force for good. By electing me as your Global President, you are choosing progress, unity, and a brighter future for our school and its community. Let’s work together to build an enduring legacy that we can all be proud of. Your support and votes are critical to making this dream a reality.

Comrade Moruf Kolawole Yusuf (Ojogbon) is poised to redefine leadership and set ACHSOSAN on a path of growth, empowerment, and inclusivity. With his comprehensive agenda, he promises to unite alumni and uplift the alma mater for generations to come.
