The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of an additional 78 senior police officers to their next ranks during its ongoing second plenary meeting in Abuja.
The meeting, presided over by the Commission’s Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, entered its second day on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the Commission’s spokesperson, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, confirmed the approval. According to him, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police, while 57 Chief Superintendents advanced to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police.
The spokesperson further stated that the promotions were part of the Commission’s commitment to boosting the morale and performance of officers within the Nigeria Police Force. “The Commission remains steadfast in recognizing and rewarding dedication and hard work within the Police Force. These promotions are a reflection of officers’ professionalism, service, and leadership contributions,” Ani said.
The statement also recalled that on Monday, December 16, the Commission approved the promotion of 11 Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General and 16 Deputy Commissioners to substantive Commissioners.
One of the newly promoted Commissioners of Police is Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, who previously served as the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Administration and Finance for the Jigawa State Command.
