The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has restored Barrister Sylvester (Sly) Ezeokenwa as the national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and updated his name on its official website.
This decision follows a recent Supreme Court judgment that recognized Ezeokenwa as the legitimate chairman of the party.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, explained that the Commission acted in compliance with the apex court’s ruling.
“The Commission met today, Tuesday, 17th December 2024. Among other issues, the meeting discussed the leadership matter in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which has been a subject of litigation,” Olumekun stated.
He added, “The Commission has been served with the judgment of the Supreme Court in Appeal No. SC/CV/824/2024, APGA & ANOR vs OYE & ORS, delivered on 27th November 2024, recognizing Barr. Sylvester (Sly) Ezeokenwa as the Chairman of the party. In compliance with the judgment of the apex court, the Commission has restored Barr. Ezeokenwa as the Chairman of APGA and updated his name on our website accordingly.”
