Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has assured residents that the newly signed 2025 budget will be rigorously implemented to meet the expectations of the people. The budget, tagged “Budget of Sustainable Growth and Transformation,” amounts to ₦427,746,925,170.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Governor Adeleke reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering growth and development. “The signing of this budget further demonstrates our readiness to forge ahead in the new year with the growth and development of our dear state,” he said.
Governor Adeleke directed all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to prioritize the effective implementation of the budget for the benefit of Osun residents.
“Our budget performance must remain commendable on a quarterly basis. I further direct the Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget, and Development to monitor the implementation process to ensure targets and expectations are met,” the Governor stated.
He emphasized that the budget would serve as a tool for achieving his administration's five-point agenda for good governance. "The Appropriation Act will be our faithful instrument to deliver on our promises to the people," he added.
Governor Adeleke commended the Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget, and Development for their professionalism and acknowledged the contributions of the House of Assembly. He urged the executive arm to cooperate fully with lawmakers during oversight activities in the 2025 fiscal year.
“The Executive arm looks forward to the oversight activities of lawmakers. Members of the State Executive Council must ensure full cooperation during this period,” he noted.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, highlighted the rigorous process involved in passing the budget. He described the budget as a blend of the executive's vision and the legislature’s input as representatives of the people.
“This signing ceremony is the final stage of rigorous processing of budgetary estimates with an eye on public benefits,” the Speaker said.
Providing a technical breakdown, the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget, and Development, Prof. Moruf Adeleke, assured residents that the budget aligns with Governor Adeleke’s deep commitment to the welfare of Osun people.
