Captain of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Rasheedat Ajibade, has completed a move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain, sealing a contract that will keep her at the club until June 30, 2027.
The 25-year-old forward was unveiled by PSG on Tuesday, with the club confirming her transfer from Atlético de Madrid, where she had played since 2021. Ajibade’s switch marks a significant step in her career after an impressive run in Spain, which followed her earlier spell in Norway with Avaldsnes IL.
In the 2024–25 season, Ajibade featured in 25 matches for Atlético, scoring eight goals and providing three assists. Her consistent performance earned her recognition across Europe, further boosting her profile as one of Africa’s most promising football exports.
Born in the Mushin district of Lagos, Ajibade began her journey with FC Robo Queens before winning the NFF Young Player of the Year award in 2018. She has since become a key figure for the Super Falcons, leading the team to Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumphs in 2018 and 2024, while also playing pivotal roles at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Reacting to her move, Ajibade described the transfer as a dream come true.
“I’m deeply honoured to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, a top-drawer club in Europe,” she said. “This is a major step for me, and I’m committed to giving my all to help PSG win titles and to inspire young footballers, be they in Nigeria or elsewhere.”
