30 AFROGRAMS Students Get ₦1m for NECO Fees as Prof. Olatidoye Marks 70th Birthday

Thirty students of African Church Grammar School (AFROGRAMS), Ita Iyalode, Abeokuta, have received financial support for their NECO registration fees following a ₦1 million donation by Professor Olugbemiga Adekunmi Olatidoye, the Chief Executive Officer of Tido Tech International.

The donation, made during an event held on Wednesday, is part of Prof. Olatidoye’s efforts to support indigent students in his alma mater as he marked his 70th birthday.

"Many students face financial hurdles that could jeopardize their education. Rather than just pointing out problems, I believe in taking action," Prof. Olatidoye stated. "This support is to ensure that these students can sit for their NECO exams without financial worry."

In addition to the NECO sponsorship, the tech expert and member of the AFROGRAMS 68/72 set donated a 3D machine to the school and promised to introduce students to robotics, drones, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity to equip them with 21st-century technological skills.

The initiative was carried out in partnership with Solace Foundation, a non-governmental organization founded by Olori Ameenah Adeleye Matemilola, Queen of Owu Kingdom, further strengthening educational empowerment in the school.

Speaking at the event, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Professor Saka Adelola Matemilola, who was represented by the Orunto of Owu Kingdom, Chief Abiodun Lasile, praised Prof. Olatidoye’s generosity, stating that the kingdom would continue to support initiatives aimed at educational development.

"We will always stand behind individuals who are committed to giving back to society, especially in the education sector," Chief Lasile said. "The foundation has been laid, and these students have no excuse not to reach their full potential."

A passionate advocate for literacy, Chief Lasile also stressed the importance of reading, adding, "Reading is not just an art; it is a way of life."

Also speaking, the Principal of AFROGRAMS Senior, Adebanjo Matilda Abisola, commended the initiative, describing the donation as a major relief for the beneficiaries.

"Paying NECO fees for 30 students is a significant contribution, and we deeply appreciate this support. I also encourage other old students to follow this example and invest in the future of our students," she remarked.

On behalf of the students, Assistant Head Boy, Alex Monday, expressed gratitude for the donation, acknowledging the positive impact it would have on their academic journey.

Apart from the financial and technological support, students also received renewable energy and sustainability activity booklets, titled Going Green Tips, aimed at promoting environmental awareness.

With this initiative, Prof. Olatidoye, in collaboration with Solace Foundation, has not only provided financial relief but has also positioned AFROGRAMS students for academic and technological advancement.
