Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday received the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, along with other principal officers of the Assembly during a courtesy visit to his office at Alausa, Ikeja.
The meeting, held ahead of the weekly State Executive Council session, was disclosed by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, in a post shared earlier today.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, emphasized the importance of sustaining a harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government to advance Lagos State's development goals.
“A collaborative relationship between the executive and legislative arms is essential to delivering good governance to the people of Lagos. Together, we will achieve more,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Meranda, assured the Governor of the legislature’s continued support. “We are committed to working closely with the executive arm to ensure that policies and projects benefit the citizens of Lagos,” she said.
The Speaker was accompanied by key members of the Assembly, including: Deputy Speaker: Hon. Mojeed Fatai (Ibeju-Lekki State Constituency 1), Majority Leader: Hon. Temitope Adedeji (Ifako Ijaiye 1), Deputy Majority Leader: Hon. Richard Kasunmu (Ikeja 2), Chief Whip: Hon. Sanni Babatunde (Kosofe 1) and Deputy Chief Whip: Hon. David Setonji (Badagry 2)
After the visit, both parties proceeded to the Council Chamber, where discussions centered on fostering stronger collaboration to ensure efficient governance and service delivery across Lagos State.
