The event, marked by joy and emotion, underscored the firm’s commitment to sustainable real estate development and excellence in service delivery.
Miss Sipeolu Esther emerged as the Best Customer Service Employee for 2024, while Azeez Hammed Opeyemi won the Best Behaved Employee award. Mr. Owoyabu Soliu was recognized as the Most Punctual Employee, and Tpl.
Akintomide Olumide, the Director of Operations, was named the Best Dressed Employee of the Year. Tpl. Akintomide also received the CEO Special Recognition Award, which was also presented to the Chief Security Officer, Babangida Jude. Each award came with a cash reward.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of a plot of land each to Mr. Ernest Nwokolo (Outstanding Consultant of the Year), Mr. Simon Imrya (a security guard), and Engineer Quosim Oladosu.
The plots, located in the firm’s staff estate at Kobape, Ogun State, were accompanied by complete documentation, including a survey plan, a plot allocation letter, and a deed of gift.
Overwhelmed with emotion, awardees, including Ernest Nwokolo, expressed their gratitude. "This recognition is a call to more commitment," they said. Many of them were moved to tears as they received their awards and gifts from the CEO, Ambassador (Dr.) Babatunde Adeyemo.
The Awards and Dinner Night, held at The Podium, Pelican Valley Estate in Abeokuta, was preceded by a Staff Retreat. The retreat featured insightful presentations by Dr. Tunde Elegbede, an associate professor from the University of Lagos, and Mrs. Dorcas James, a human resources consultant. Both speakers commended Pelican Valley for its innovative Smart Home initiative and urged the firm to focus on sustainable development.
Dr. Elegbede emphasized the importance of adopting efficient technology and environmentally friendly policies. "Real estate entrepreneurs should tap into opportunities in urbanization, rural-urban migration, and population growth to build smart cities," he stated.
He highlighted the benefits of Smart Cities, such as reduced traffic congestion, efficient communication, and public safety, describing them as the future of urban living.
In her presentation, Mrs. Dorcas James noted that while real estate is lucrative, it requires value addition to succeed. "Pelican Valley, with its foundation of integrity and ethical principles, should leverage the increasing housing deficit and population surge to dominate the market," she said. She also encouraged staff to see themselves as integral to the firm's success.
Earlier, in his address, CEO Adeyemo reflected on the company’s journey and achievements. "Our Smart Home initiative has transformed the real estate landscape, with significant milestones like the commissioned Ecostay Apartments. This is a lifelong project, and every staff member is a driver of this vision," he remarked.
