2027 Governorship Is Too Early to Discuss – Senator Yayi

Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan Yayi, the representative of Ogun West Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, has refuted claims suggesting that his developmental strides in Ogun West and other parts of the state are aimed at campaigning for the 2027 Ogun governorship election.

Speaking during a New Year get-together held in Ilaro-Yewa on Saturday, Senator Yayi emphasized that 2025 is not a year for politicking but a time to build on the progress made in 2024.

“This is not the time for politicking,” he stated. “We are still busy providing dividends of democracy for the people. What I am doing is to celebrate the gift of life and to rejoice with my senatorial district. I believe it is only fair and proper to appreciate those God has used for me to be in the Senate and to thank them for the good job they did in voting for me.”

The senator reiterated that his focus remains on delivering impactful projects and governance to his constituents rather than contemplating the 2027 governorship race.

“2027 is still far off to start discussing who will become the governor of Ogun State. When the time comes, I will make the right decision,” he assured.

Senator Yayi also used the occasion to celebrate his constituents and reaffirm his commitment to ensuring the district continues to benefit from robust developmental initiatives.

He concluded by saying, “In the future, we can start talking if the time is right for me to decide whether I’m contesting or not. The future will determine that.”
