Southern Governors Console Namadi Over Loss of Son, Mother

The Southern Governors Forum (SGF), under the leadership of its Chairman, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed profound condolences to Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi over the tragic loss of his son, Abdulwahab Namadi, and his mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi, in quick succession.

In a statement released in Abeokuta on Friday, Abiodun described the dual tragedies as heart-wrenching and capable of breaking anyone’s spirit, particularly during the festive Yuletide season. Abdulwahab, a vibrant young man, passed away in a road accident along the Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road on Thursday, a day after the death of Hajia Maryam.

“I and members of the Southern Governors Forum can hardly find the words to describe the devastating news of our brother and Governor of Jigawa State, His Excellency Umar Namadi, losing his son, Abdulwahab, in a road accident, just a day after the death of his dear mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi," the statement read.

“Abdulwahab, who was mourning the loss of his beloved grandmother, tragically lost his life in the accident. These extremely painful events, happening in such quick succession, during a season of joy and anticipation for the New Year, are deeply saddening. It is a cruel twist of fate that has left us all heartbroken.”

The SGF Chairman emphasized the Forum’s solidarity with the grieving governor and the people of Jigawa State. “We commiserate with His Excellency and pray for the repose of the souls of these cherished loved ones. Their absence will be deeply felt, but we take comfort in the lives they lived and the positive impacts they made.”

Abiodun added, “May the Almighty Allah, the Most Merciful and the Most Benevolent, grant them Aljanat Firdaus and provide the Namadi family with the strength to bear these irreparable losses. On behalf of my colleagues in the Southern Governors Forum, I extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers.”

The Southern Governors Forum concluded by urging Governor Namadi to find solace in his faith and the knowledge that his loved ones are in the bosom of Allah.
