Rotary Club of Rock City Leads Hygiene Drive at Abeokuta Borstal Home

In a bid to promote personal hygiene and extend care to students at the Nigeria Juvenile Correctional Home (Borstal Institute, Adigbe) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Rotary Club of Rock City, led by its Irresistible President Henry Olasupo Adedokun, organized an impactful outreach on Friday. The initiative, carried out in partnership with Maa'bay Bakery, catered to over 500 students, delivering a strong message of hygiene awareness and distributing 500 loaves of bread.

Speaking on the campaign, President Adedokun noted, "We are delighted to visit again after our October outreach. Initially, we planned just one visit, but the students’ request and their genuine appreciation inspired us to return. It’s our way of showing love, reminding them that the community cares, and encouraging them toward a brighter future."

This marks the second outreach by the Rotary Club of Rock City to the institute within a short period. In October, the club hosted a food drive and a mind-reset session themed "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow." These efforts were designed to foster hope and ensure the students feel valued, while emphasizing their potential for reintegration into society.

A representative of the students expressed their gratitude during the event, saying, "We are very happy and feel loved that the outside community still cares about us. Just like our institute's slogan says, 'Our future is bright,' and we strongly believe we will achieve great things."

The Rotary Club's initiatives at the Borstal Institute aim to instill a sense of belonging and to provide resources and guidance that support the students' rehabilitation journey.

The outreach was further strengthened by the contribution of Maa'bay Bakery, whose partnership ensured the availability of freshly baked bread for the students.

The gesture reinforces the Rotary Club’s commitment to service and its belief in building stronger communities through kindness and shared values.
