The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has called on Nigerians to embrace a corruption-free future by adopting the values of integrity, truth, and justice that align with the spirit of Christmas.
Delivering his Christmas message in Abuja on Tuesday, Olukoyede stressed that the ideals of light, joy, and hope are essential for national development and the eradication of corrupt practices. He emphasized that these principles offer a pathway to integrity and strengthen the collective resolve against corruption.
“The Christmas season is a time to reflect on the values of light, joy, hope, truth, and liberty that Christ brought to the world. These values are vital tools in our fight against corruption and serve as a foundation for a prosperous nation,” Olukoyede stated.
Highlighting the EFCC’s achievements, the chairman revealed that the commission secured 3,175 convictions and recovered N156 billion in the past year. He attributed these successes to the unwavering support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the judiciary's dedication to the anti-corruption agenda.
“Nigerians can see that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is resolutely tackling corruption. The significant milestones of the EFCC would not have been possible without his active support and leadership,” Olukoyede said. “We also appreciate the professionalism and integrity of our Justices and Judges, who have been instrumental in reinforcing our efforts. With their collaboration, greater achievements lie ahead.”
The EFCC chairman expressed optimism for Nigeria’s future, urging all citizens to join hands in building a nation free of corruption. “I believe in Nigeria’s potential for growth and development. Together, we can make this country greater by upholding the values of integrity and zero tolerance for corruption,” he concluded.
