Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, has urged Christians and all Nigerians to use the Christmas season as a time for reaffirming their faith in Jesus Christ and praying for a better Nigeria.
He highlighted the significance of Christmas as a celebration of hope and salvation for humanity.
In a Christmas message signed by Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Senator Adeola, and addressed to his constituents and the broader Christian community, Adeola said, “Christmas symbolizes the birth of a new dawn for the salvation of humanity. It is a reminder that through Jesus Christ, mankind has a hope for a better future and eternal salvation.”
The senator called on Nigerians to go beyond merry-making during the festive season, advocating for a period of reflection and supplication. He encouraged prayers for the success of the "Renewed Hope Agenda" of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, which he noted is beginning to yield results, such as the gradual strengthening of the Naira and a slight reduction in petrol prices.
“I urge all Christian faithful not to see the Christmas celebration as an occasion for merry-making alone but as a time for sober reflection and fervent prayers for a new dawn in Nigeria. The Renewed Hope Agenda is setting the foundation for a prosperous and peaceful nation,” he said.
Acknowledging the socio-economic challenges Nigerians face, Adeola assured that these difficulties are temporary. “We are navigating a tough period brought about by historical local and global factors. However, with abiding faith in Jesus Christ, our challenges will become history, paving the way for economic growth, peace, security, and poverty reduction,” the senator added.
