Borno Police Deploy 3,000 Officers to Secure Churches for Christmas

In preparation for the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Borno State Police Command has deployed over 3,000 officers to secure churches and other places of worship across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Yusufu, announced this during a meeting in Maiduguri with the Chairman of the North-East Christian Association of Nigeria (NCAN), Bishop Mohammed Naga. According to him, the deployment is part of efforts to ensure peace and safety during the yuletide season.

“Today’s meeting at the Command was organized to guarantee a peaceful and secure festive season in every part of Borno State,” CP Yusufu stated.

He emphasized that the police have put measures in place not only to safeguard worship centers but also to secure border communities in the state, which share boundaries with Chad, Niger, and Cameroon.

The CP assured Bishop Naga and the NCAN leadership of adequate security coverage throughout the festive period. “The Command has deployed sufficient personnel to all churches and places of worship to prevent any form of disruption, ensuring a hitch-free celebration,” he added.

Responding, Bishop Naga commended the police for their dedication to safeguarding lives and property during such an important period. He pledged the support of the Christian community in collaborating with security agencies to maintain peace in the state.
