NBA-SBL Names Kayode Akinsola 1st Vice Chairman, Tax Committee


The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law has named Dr. Kayode Akinsola as the 1st Vice Chairman of its Tax Committee for a two year term.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, places Akinsola in a key leadership position within the NBA-SBL, a prominent arm of the Bar known for its influence on corporate practice, commercial law, and policy engagement in Nigeria.

As 1st Vice Chairman, Akinsola will work closely with the Chairman of the Committee in coordinating its activities, supervising research initiatives, and strengthening engagement with policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders in the tax sector. He is also expected to play a central role in advancing capacity building programmes for legal practitioners involved in taxation and fiscal advisory services.

The NBA-SBL Tax Committee is responsible for reviewing fiscal and tax related legislation, contributing to policy reforms, and providing professional guidance on emerging issues in taxation, compliance, and fiscal governance. The Committee has remained a critical platform for shaping conversations around efficient tax administration and sustainable revenue generation.

A respected academic and legal practitioner, Akinsola is widely acknowledged for his contributions to legal education and professional development. Colleagues within the Section described his appointment as a recognition of his depth of knowledge in business and tax law, as well as his consistent commitment to upholding professional standards within the legal community.

Members of the Section expressed confidence that his combined experience in academia and legal practice will further strengthen the Committee’s advocacy for transparent tax systems and improved regulatory frameworks.
