The Chief of Staff and Media Adviser to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, Mr. Kayode Odunaro, has been installed as the Osorun of Isaga-Orile Kingdom, one of the revered kingmakers in the ancient community, located in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The installation ceremony, which took place at the weekend, was performed by the Onisaga of Isaga-Orile Kingdom, Oba Joseph Oladele Olusoji Tella, and witnessed by traditional chiefs, family members, and dignitaries from within and outside the state.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the event, Odunaro explained that the Osorun chieftaincy title is an ancestral one that belongs to his lineage, noting that it was last held by his late uncle who was installed in 1958 and passed away in 1988.
According to him, the new role marks a return to his roots and a call to contribute more meaningfully to the activities of the Isaga Traditional Council, especially in the selection of a new traditional ruler whenever the need arises.
“I am delighted to have been installed as the Osorun of Isaga-Orile Kingdom. This is a very important traditional title in the kingdom, as the Osorun is one of the kingmakers. The title belongs to our family; my late uncle was installed in 1958 and held the title until his death in 1988. For decades, the position remained vacant. So, I’m highly elated to fill the vacant stool after so many years of interregnum,” Odunaro said.
He added that the position comes with greater traditional responsibility and pledged to leverage his vast experience in public communication and governance to advance the progress of Isaga-Orile.
“For me, this is a higher call to traditional responsibility. I will bring to bear the experiences I garnered as a spokesperson to three administrations, both military and civilian, in Ogun State. Like I have done in public service, I will use this Osorun title to contribute to the growth and development of Isaga-Orile Kingdom,” he stated.
Odunaro, who is also the Baa’royin of Imala Kingdom and a former Chief Press Secretary to former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, expressed gratitude to Oba Tella, the Isaga-Orile Traditional Council, and his family for the honour bestowed on him.
The Onisaga of Isaga-Orile Kingdom, Oba Tella, in his remarks, congratulated Odunaro on his installation and urged him to uphold the dignity and responsibilities attached to the title, adding that the stool of Osorun remains one of the most critical in the kingdom’s traditional hierarchy.
The ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including traditional rulers, political leaders, and members of the Osorun family, who described the installation as a restoration of heritage and continuity in the kingdom’s leadership structure.
