Ogun NUJ, NIPR to Storm Idanre for Pa. Akinmade's Final Burial

The Ogun State chapters of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) are gearing up to storm Idanre, Ondo State, in February to pay their last respects to High Chief Moses Ade Akinmade, the Obamoluwa of Idanre Kingdom, who passed away on August 5, 2024, at the age of 98.

The NUJ leadership in Ogun State has confirmed its members will be fully represented at the ceremonies, while the NIPR Chairperson, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, has announced plans to lead a high-profile delegation to the burial events.

Speaking on the significance of the late Akinmade's contributions, Boye said, “Chief Akinmade was not just a community leader but a visionary who laid the foundation for modern cooperative societies in Idanre. Honouring him is a duty we owe his legacy.”

High Chief Moses Ade Akinmade was a distinguished figure in his community. He was celebrated for his role in pioneering cooperative societies, excelling as a cocoa merchant, and contributing immensely to social development in Idanre.

The late Obamoluwa was also the father of Hon. Kayode Akinmade, a renowned media expert who served as a two-term Commissioner for Information in Ondo State and currently serves as Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The Akinmade family has outlined plans for the burial ceremonies, which will span two days, starting on Friday, February 14, 2025. The wake-keep will take place at No. 30 Odolemo Street, Isalu Quarters, Odode Idanre, while the funeral service will hold at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the First Baptist Church, Idanre.

After the service, the internment will follow at the late Chief Akinmade's residence, with a grand reception for guests at the Olofin Grammar School, Odode Idanre.

In a statement, Hon. Kayode Akinmade expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support. “My father was a beacon of hope and a bridge-builder in his lifetime. His passing is a great loss, but we take solace in the remarkable legacy he left behind,” he said.
