Tinubu Hosts Ghana’s President-Elect John Mahama at State House

The President-Elect of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, on Monday, paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The visit comes days after Mahama’s victory in Ghana’s December 7 general election. President Tinubu had earlier congratulated Mahama in a telephone call, where he expressed optimism about Mahama’s leadership bolstering regional stability.

Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, confirmed the visit in a post on X.com on Tuesday. He wrote, “The President-Elect of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, paid a courtesy visit to President Tinubu at his residence, Presidential Villa, State House, yesterday.”

During their earlier phone conversation, Tinubu conveyed his confidence in Mahama’s ability to lead Ghana successfully while strengthening the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Tinubu said, “I look forward to collaborating with Mahama’s administration to deepen bilateral ties and foster a brighter future for the West African region.”

The visit highlights the cordial relationship between Nigeria and Ghana, particularly at a time when regional cooperation is critical to addressing challenges such as economic growth, security, and development.

Tinubu emphasized that his administration remains committed to working closely with neighboring countries to promote peace, stability, and progress across West Africa.
