The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers' Council, Barrister Ukeyima Akutah, has declared Ogun State as the leader in Nigeria's ongoing industrial revolution, citing its significant strides in the Ease of Doing Business Index.
Akutah noted that the state’s industrial growth aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration's policy to transform production systems, create jobs, and drive national prosperity through industrialization.
The Shippers’ Council boss made this statement on Monday during a visit to the Governor’s office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where he led a delegation comprising directors and heads of units from the council.
Highlighting Ogun State's infrastructural achievements, Akutah commended Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for enhancing the business environment and fostering productive activities. He specifically acknowledged key projects such as the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport and the Papalanto Inland Dry Port, which have attracted national attention.
“We commend you and your team for being consistent with infrastructural development in all sectors of the state's economy. One of those infrastructures is the Gateway International Agro-cargo Airport, as well as the Inland Dry Port for which we are presenting its Certificate of Compliance to you today.
"Obviously, you have demonstrated capacity and quality leadership by all standards, and your state is piloting the ongoing industrial revolution in Nigeria as conceived by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu," Akutah stated.
During the visit, Akutah also presented an Outlined Certificate of Compliance for the Papalanto Inland Dry Port, a project flagged off recently by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola.
In his response, Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun appreciated the Shippers' Council for its visit and the granting of the compliance certificate, describing it as a milestone in the establishment of the Inland Dry Port.
The Governor emphasized the importance of the Papalanto Inland Dry Port as a strategic operation designed to decongest the Lagos ports while enhancing Ogun’s industrial potential.
“This port will boost industrial activities in Ogun State, which has the highest number of industries in Nigeria. Through the concept of the Multi-modal Transportation System adopted by my administration, the Inland Dry Port will be an efficient mechanism to support the Federal Government’s industrial revolution,” Governor Abiodun explained.
The Governor reiterated his commitment to fostering business growth and attracting investments, positioning Ogun State as a critical hub in Nigeria’s industrial transformation.
